2 Rak’ah of “Forgetfulness”

Fatwaa ID: 666

Question:
Assalaam o alikum warahmatulahi wabarakatu respected mufti.

I saw video saying we must make 2 rakat of forgetfulness if we forget to say rabighfirli between 2 sajdas? I’ve been reciting the below between sajdas.

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

The above is not correct. There is no salaah called Salaah of “Forgetfulness”. If you are referring to Sajdah Sahw, then that too is not necessary if one misses out saying the masnoon du’aa in between the two sajdahs.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
