Assalam Alikum Mufti Saab, i have a question regarding dikr or istigfaar. Is it permissible to say Astagfirullah in a state of impurity. Also, is it permissible to say Audubillah in restroom and la ilaaha illallah after wudu in restroom. JazakAllah khair.
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
- It is permissible to make dhikr and istighfaar while in the state of purity. Dhikr and istighfaar do not require purity. It is reported regarding Nabi (S) that he would make dhikr in all conditions.
- When in the restroom, one may not take the name of Allaah Ta’aala verbally. Hence, it will not be permissible to say a’udhu billaah or the kalimah in the restroom. One should say it before and/or after going in. The same applies to the du’aas of the bathroom and wudhu.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
