Al Safa products

Fatwaa ID: 1798

Question:
AsalaamAlaykum.

Are Al safa products halal. The website indicates/states that their products are slaughtered by hand are are zabiha by hand.
how extreme and far does one have to go when living in a country like the us. If we do our research and see that the food is being claimed to be halal hand slaughtered/zabiha hand slaughtered, is that not enough?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

Kindly be reminded that we are not a Halaal certification board. You may reach out to competent and reputable boards such as HFSAA with queries pertaining to the halaal status of products.

  1. According to the information at our disposal, Al-Safa is not reliable even though they claim to be zabihah by hand. Furthermore, the board that certifies them, IFANCA, is not reliable; they approve of the conventional mechanical slaughtering which is haraam.
  2. One must exercise extreme caution. One is affected by what he eats and consumes. The acceptance of our worship and du’aa is jeopardized by eating haraam or doubtful things.
The default when it comes to meat is prohibition. Meat will only be permissible when it is verified and certain that it has been slaughtered appropriately according to the Islamic laws of slaughter. The market is unfortunately dirty and deceit and deception is a norm. Hence, it is not sufficient to simply rely on a claim, even if it is coming from Muslims. You should search for places certified by reputable and reliable boards such as HFSAA and HMS.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
