Alcohol on one’s cloth

Fatwaa ID: 359

Just wanted to know if someone is working at a retail shop and drops alcohol on their clothes by accident, is it sufficient to just wash the clothes, can they then pray as normal?

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

At the outset, we wish to remind you that it is not permissible for a Muslim to deal and work with alcohol. Nevertheless, if one’s clothing comes in contact with impurity, it will be sufficient to wash the soiled portion. In the enquired situation, you may wash the portion of your clothes on which alcohol fell and perform salaah with that. You do not need to do anything else. The salaah will be performed as normal.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
