Question:
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatu Mufti Sahib, I wanted to ask after how long the nikkah is done that it must be announced to the community(s) one resides in outside of the families

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

The validity of the nikaah is not subject to its announcement in the community. The announcement is encouraged at the time of the nikaah so that the community is aware of the union that is taking place. This will prevent the people from having inappropriate thoughts when they see the person with his/her spouse.
