Question:
Salaam
Is there any hadith or islamic reference that people who died in the earthquake attain the level of shahaada ?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

Discussing those who are regarded as martyrs, Nabi ﷺ mentioned “saahib al-hadm”. This may be translated as one who dies or is buried under debris or by something collapsing on him. Accordingly, it is hoped that victims of earthquakes would be included in this.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
