Question:
Asalamualaikum, Mufti Sahab,

I hope you are well. My question is: Is it Halal for you to look at and have physical contact with your aunties and grandmas?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

A person’s aunts, i.e., the biological sisters of his mother and father, are mahrams. Similarly, ones grandmothers, i.e., the biological mother of one’s father and mother, are mahrams. Physical interactions with them are permissible. In all cases, it is essential to observe modesty.
