Bribery due to being scared

Fatwaa ID: 1846

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh

Sawal:- if someone is scared of an interview and not able to clear the interview is it permissible to give some sort of amount kinda bribe or we call it a backdoor process.(where in candidate pay some amount and without interview candidate gets a job)

Also will this be a halal income aisa karna durust hoga?

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

  1. We understand that the possibility of not doing well in the interview is due to lack of confidence and the petitioner wishes to circumvent that through bribery. That is not permissible. He should work up the courage and prepare for the interview. Bribery is prohibited and a major sin. The prohibition is applicable to the giver and the receiver.
  2. If one engages in the cowardly and heinous sin of bribery and thereby lands a job, the income therefrom will however will be halaal provided that the job position is permissible. He gets paid for the job he does, not the interview he has given. However, should he sense a lack of khayr and barakah, then he cannot blame anyone but himself. He must make sincere tawbah and istighfaar.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
