Business dealings through social media during Jumu’ah

Fatwaa ID: 1621

السلام علیکم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Please clarify if the following falls under buying and selling at the time of Jumuah:

1) advertising the product via social media during this period

2) responding via social media platforms online when someone enquires about a product, and you send them the specs of the product

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

The laws pertaining to engaging in business activities during the Jumu’ah time are applicable on virtual platforms as well. Hence, a person upon whom Jumu’ah is waajib may not advertise his product on social media at that time. Likewise, he may not respond to enquiries regarding the products at that time.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
