Cancer patient and ihraam

Fatwaa ID: 2143

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Respected Mufti

A woman underwent chemotherapy recently and has just a light fuzz of hair growing back on some portions of her head. In Sha Allah she will be leaving for umrah soon, how would she come out of the state of ihraam.

JazākAllāhu Khayra

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

May Allaah Ta’aala make it easy for her and grant her complete shifaa.

In the enquired situation where she has a light fuzz of hair on some portions of her head, she should take a scissor and cut from there. She should act like she is cutting from the other parts as well where she has no hair. She should not use a blade or razor. If nothing cuts, then that is fine. She will be out of the state of ihraam by doing this. Her ‘umrah will be complete.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
