Question:
While praying qaza of previous magrib if by mistake i prayed the last rakah like that of witr (reciting takbeer and dua qunoot) can i change the intention in Salaah itself from magrib farz qaza to witr qaza.

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

In principle, intention is made in the mind prior to commencing the salaah. Once the salaah is started, that intention cannot be changed. If you have started the salaah as Maghrib, you must complete it as such. You may not change it to Witr. In the enquired situation, if you performed takbeer and qunoot during Maghrib Salaah, then you should perform Sajdah Sahw at the end and regard it as Maghrib Salaah.
