Question:
Is it necessary for a person to switch spots after praying with congregation or can they stay in their own spot and pray?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

It is not necessary to move or change spots after performing fardh salaah. It is preferable to do so. The more places one performs salaah on, the more places he will have that will testify in his favor. If one performs another salaah in the same spot, there is no reprehension.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
