Question:
Slms, please clarify, can a husband tell ex wife to “get out” during her iddat talaq occurred 22 Dec.
Respected Mufti saheb..
Clarification: Husband has given his wife 3 talaaqs and she is currently sitting for iddah in his home…would it be correct for him to chase her out?
Also what are his responsibilities to her during this period?
Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
The ex-wife must spend her ‘iddah in her marital home. The now ex-husband may not chase her out of the house. He will be sinful. During the ‘iddah period, he must provide nafaqah/maintenance and suknaa/shelter as he was doing during their married moments.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
