Child Visiting a Church

Fatwaa ID: 370

Question:

Assalamalykum is it permissible for a child to visit a church on school educational trip

Answer:

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

It is not clear what your child’s age is nor who his teachers are. A young child is easily affected by what he sees and is told. Thus, unless there is proper guidance and chaperonage from an upright Muslim teacher, you should not allow your child to take part in these educational trips to houses of worship. You should also voice your concerns to the school board.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
