Christian songs at work

Fatwaa ID: 1838

Question:
I work in a daycare that is funded by a church. The ages I teach are infants hence I do not teach Christian- related material. However, the songs that are played during leisure time are Christian songs. I want to know if it is alright for me to continue working here.

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

May Allaah Ta’aala bless you for your concern to earn a halaal livelihood. Your job in question is permissible. You may continue working there. During the time when they play Christian songs, you may consider using noise canceling earphones. We advise you to use your job as an opportunity to show others the beautify of Islam.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
