Clothing worn during haydh

Fatwaa ID: 1156

Asalamu’alaikum muftti, are the clothing that women wear during their menstrual cycle impure? Does something like the scarf or sweater need to be cleaned before being reused after the woman gets pure?

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

The clothing that a woman wears while menstruating does not become impure by virtue of haydh. She may wear them after the haydh ends without washing them. However, if anything comes in contact with the blood, then the soiled part specifically becomes impure and will have to be washed.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
