Assalamu aalykum ww
If a person compares his wife to his mother, like clothing and beauty, does zihaar take place?
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
The mere comparing of one’s wife to one’s mother does not result in zihaar. The intention of the husband will be considered. If he intended thereby zihaar, then zihaar will take place. If he intended talaaq, then talaaq will take place. If he did not intend either of the above, then it would not constitute anything.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
