Question:
Assalaamu ‘Alaikum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuh Mufti. Is working in the Compliance department for a pharmaceutical insurance company permissible?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

It is not permissible to work for or at an insurance company, irrespective of position or department. The income therefrom will be impermissible. In the enquired situation, it will not be permissible to work in the compliance department of a pharmaceutical insurance company.
