Question:
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Hope Muftisaheb is well inshaAllah
Which is correct, تهادَوا or تهادُوا
تحابُّوا؟
JazākAllah
Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
It is of utmost importance that one pronounces the words of the Ahaadith correctly, lest he attributes to Nabi ﷺ something that he did not say. Negligence in this matter is unacceptable.
Contrary to the famous mispronunciation, the correct harakah of the letter د in the word تهادوا in the above hadith is fat-hah, i.e. تهادَوا. This is an imperative verb from the scale of تفاعل whose past and present tense forms are with fat-hah as well.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
