Question:
Asalamu alaykum respected scholars, when praying can one count the tasbeeh that’s done in ruku and sajdah? If so, does the tasbeeh have to be done in an odd number or any number?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

1. It is not clear what you mean by “count the tasbeeh”. If you are referring to counting the tasbeehs you recite on your finger or on a sibhah, then that is reprehensible. You may however keep count by slightly pressing down the finger.
2. The total tasbeeh count should be an odd number. The minimum should be three. There is no maximum.
