Covering the head

Fatwaa ID: 1840

As-salam-alaikum Sheikh:

Is covering of the head for men a virtuous act?

If yes, then when should the head be covered – at all times or during certain types of worship such as salat or reading Quran?

If covering the head is virtuous, then does the type of head covering matter- deasi style toopi, turban, fez or baseball cap etc?

If you can provide a reference for your answer, that would be greatly appreciated.

jazakAllah for your response.

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

It is from the sunnah of Rasulullaah ﷺ to wear an Islamic headgear. Kindly refer to “The Crown of a Believer” by my honorable teacher, Mufti Husain Kadodia (H). Your questions above have been covered in this book.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
