Deception of shaytaan

Fatwaa ID: 1786

Salaam I had a friend ask me this question but I told him I’ll get back to him once a person with more knowledge answers. He asked this: Let’s say I made the intention to go to salah but my intention after Salaah is to do a haram act, is there any point of even going to the masjid knowing that I’m either way going to do the wrong deed? And do I get sin for going to Salah with that intention? JazakAllah

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

At the outset, it is waajib for a man to perform his fardh salaahs with the congregation. Nevertheless, your analysis in question is nothing but a deception of the shaytaan. The shaytaan at times comes in righteous forms to deceive us. Just because you have the intention to do something wrong after salaah, that should not stop you from attending the salaah. One bad should not be a reason for staying away from good. Rather, a person who diligently and devotedly performs salaah, it will surely prevent him from evil and sin, if not today then tomorrow. This is a promise from Allaah Ta’aala.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
