Delaying salaah and hypocrisy

Fatwaa ID: 1675

Question:
Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatahu Mufti saab,

If one delays namaz until near the end moment, is he considered a munafiq?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

Salaah ought to be performed in the masjid with the congregation. Salaah is an intimate conversation with Allaah Ta’aala. It is a means of getting our needs and wants fulfilled. One should look forward to it and perform it with enthusiasm and passion. To habitually delay the salaah to the last moment without a valid reason is a sign of negligence and carelessness. That is from the quality of a munaafiq. While he may not be a munaafiq, he should be wary of becoming one. He should change his habits.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
