Question:
As’salaamu Alaykum waRahmatullah. Is it permissible to make dhikr or recite Qur’an if one has a cough drop in his mouth due to its need? I’m also wondering if one can do the same with gum in the mouth.
Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
May Allaah Ta’aala grant you complete shifaa. It will be permissible to make dhikr with a cough drop in one’s mouth. As for reciting the Qur’aan, it will be permissible in the enquired situation provided that one is about to recite correctly without messing up or distorting the letters.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
