Is douching ever halal?
Can women douche on medical reasons or as a part of detox protocol?
Does it make ghusl waajib as the thing goes into the uterus to clean it.
I’m aware that women use only herbs/ herbal liquids to douche, so there isn’t the concept of animal derivatives/alcohol.
Thing — bulb/nozzle of douche cleaner.
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
- Vaginal douching refers to washing or flushing the vagina with water or other fluids. If this is done externally or at the close entrance, then that is permissible. That would be a form of acheiving cleanliness. If it is deeper in, then that would be unadvisable unless there is a genuine benefit or it has been recommended by an upright medical practitioner. This is because the jurists have deemed it unadvisable to unnecessarily enter foreign objects into the vagina. That being said, you may consult a medical professional regarding the pros and cons of douching. If they advise that it is harmful, then it should be avoided.
- Douching will not make ghusl necessary. Wudhu will however have to be made.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
