Driver employee

Fatwaa ID: 2093

As salamoalikom

I live in Italy, but In can’t find a Mufti here, there are Just sheikh.

I am a driver employee, sometimes I have to bring clients in a restaurant, but in the restaurant they could drink wine, do a wine tasting, buy bottles of wine.

When I bring them to the restaurant, they have already booked, so it’s not me who tell them to go.

I am doing something Haram?

Jazakom Allah Khayr

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

May Allaah Ta’aala bless you and place barakah in your life and sustenance.

We understand from your query that you are a taxi driver. Your job is to transport people from one place to another. You are not responsible for what a passenger does after he gets off from your car. Accordingly, your job is halaal. The income you earn from this job is also halaal.

We advise you to use your job as an opportunity for da’wah. When you head out for work, make the intention of da’wah. Show the non-Muslims the true beauty of Islam. Engage in friendly yet informative discussions with them.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
