Question:
Asalamualaykum wrwb I had heard that any stomach illness that one dies from gives the rank of shahada. Is it just the stomach organ or can it be any organ in the entire GI system or abdominal Illness in general, ex colon cancer?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

Rasulullaah ﷺ said,

الْمَبْطُونُ شَهِيدٌ
“The one who dies from an abdominal illness is a shaheed/martyr.” [Bukhaari 5733]

The Hadith is general. Any and all forms of abdominal illnesses are included in this virtue.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
