Assalamualaikum
Muftian kiraam
One musallee asked:
I have a transit in Jeddah for a few hours on a Friday. I don’t have time to perform an entire umrah. Am I permitted to go to Haram in Makkah to perform my jumah salat WITHOUT getting into state of ehram?
Ajeeboo wa tujaroo
Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
According to the Hanafi legal school, it is necessary for a person to don the ihraam prior to crossing the meeqaat and thereafter perform ‘umrah. In the enquired situation, it will not be permissible for him to enter without ihraam only to perform Jumu’ah salaah. He may perform Jumu’ah salaah elsewhere if he wishes to before the meeqaat boundaries.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
