Question:
Asalamualaikum Mufti Sahib, I hope you are well.

If someone has done something before in their life which will be questioned on the Day of Judgement, for example,

Missing a Sunnah Muakkadah, Sunnah Muakkadah is punishable

However, is there anyway to escape this punishment for missing Sunnah Muakkadah? Do we just make Tawbah?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

A person will be accountable for each and every action of his, good and bad. One should supplement his actions and doings with supererogatory actions. If there is deficiency in the prescribed actions, then this will supplement that. If there are shortcomings or sins, then these righteous deeds will do them away. In the enquired situation, make istighfaar and continue doing righteous deed. Allaah Ta’aala is Ever-Generous and Most-Merciful.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
