Event planner

Fatwaa ID: 931

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah
My question is regarding a job where one of the responsibilities is to plan events such as fundraisers. The employee would be required to book musicians for some of these events.
If one can negotiate away the responsibility of booking musicians for religious reasons (i.e. someone else will handle that) but still has to plan other aspects of the event, is that permissible?

JazakumAllahu khairan

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

We take note of the details of your query. Any planning which involves haraam should be avoided. Assisting in sin or facilitating it is as though you have done it. If you are unable to avoid it, then some of the income should be given away in charity at purification. Istighfaar should also be made.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
