Exosome therapy

Fatwaa ID: 1662

As salaamu Alykum wrwb,a lady is asking; if she can turn to exosome therapy for hair loss (aleopecia areata)after she has tried all medicines and other available treatment option from few years.JazakumUllah khyr.

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

May Allaah Ta’aala grant her complete shifaa and bless her with lush hair.

In principle, the usage of human body parts is contrary to the honor of human beings. Hence, the jurists have ruled that it is impermissible, in general circumstances, to use body parts, including cells and exosomes. This prohibition is extended to medicinal procedures as well unless there is a genuine need and there are no adequate alternatives available.

In the enquired situation, if other adequate medicines and treatments have not been of benefit, then the lady will be excused to undergo the therapy in question. This should be done under the consultation of a competent medical professional.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
