Respected Mufti Sahib.
In washing your face for wudhu, do the eyelashes, and the water line of the eye need to be wet for wudhu to be accepted?
To clarify: If someone wears mascara on their eyelashes, or eyeliner inside their eye, will they have to wash it off or not?
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
- The eyelashes have to be washed in wudhu. Hence, if the mascara is not water permeable, it will have to be removed for wudhu to be valid.
- The waterline of the eye does not have to washed in wudhu. However, the lacrimal caruncle must be washed.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
