Question:

salam . should a woman waah their face from the top to the bottom of the chin (the part between chin and neck) like men . plz give hadith and a good ans. because there is alot of video on youtube . they say different things 

Answer:

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

Sister in Islam,

The area of the face to be washed in wudhu for both, men and women is from the top of the forehead to the bottom of the chin where the jawbone finishes and from one earlobe to the other[1]. The portion between the chin and neck is not part of the face. That does not have to be washed during wudhu by a male or a female.

ولم يذكر في ظاهر الرواية حد الوجه، وذكر في غير رواية الأصول أنه من قصاص الشعر إلى أسفل الذقن، وإلى شحمتي الأذنين، وهذا تحديد صحيح؛ لأنه تحديد الشيء بما ينبئ عنه اللفظ لغة؛ لأن الوجه اسم لما يواجه الإنسان، أو ما يواجه إليه في العادة، والمواجهة تقع بهذا المحدود

وحد الوجه: من قصاص الشعر من الرأس إلى أسفل الذقن، وإلى شحمتي الأذن

حلبي صغير (ص: 5)

وحد الوجه ما بين قصاص الشعر وأسف الذقن وشحمتي الأذنين

ولم يذكر حد الوجه في ظاهر الرواية كذا في البدائع في المغنى الوجه من منابت شعر الرأس إلى ما انحدر من اللحيين والذقن إلى أصول الاذنين كذا في العيني شرح الهداية

نور الإيضاح (ص: 17)

الأول غسل الوجه وحده طولا من مبدأ سطح الجبهة الى أسفل الذقن وحده عرضا ما بين شحمتي الأذنين
