Fajr time comes in while in Tahajjud Salaah

Fatwaa ID: 1861

Question:
Asalamalaykum, I wanted to ask: if one is praying Tahajjud and the athan happens while in rukuh after the first rakah, does one’s Tahajjud still count and will the Dua’s they made in that rukuh (immediately before the athan was called) count as a dua made during Tahajjud?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

If a person is performing Tahajjud Salaah and the time of Fajr comes in, then he should complete his Tahajjud Salaah. It will be valid and complete. The du’aas made in that salaah, even once the time comes in, will be valid. It should be noted that one should not make du’aas while in rukoo’. While in rukoo’, a person should suffice on the masnoon tasbeehs.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
