Question:
Aslm respected mufti saheb
A lady has relocated to another country. She is having difficulty getting the paperwork for the country sorted. She says that marriage for convenience might be what she will resort to to secure citizenship.
Would this be permissible
Jazakallah khair
Clarification:
Marriage only to get citizenship
Not intending intimacy etc
Clarification:
Court marriage to a complete stranger. Every month a certain amount will also be paid to him.
And absolutely no intimacy
Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
The above is impermissible, unethical, illegal and immodest. A Muslim lives an honest and truthful life. It will not be permissible to lie and fake documents and show that one has married another person simply for citizenship. The payment made and received are haraam. If it is not meant for you to get paperworks legally in a country, consider some other country. Maintain your dignity and honor.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
