Forgot to make masah

Fatwaa ID: 778

Question:
If someone had made whudhu, after drying their limbs and stepping out of the bathroom they remembered that they did not do masah on their khuf. Will the person have to repeat their full whudhu, or is doing masah sufficient despite the other limbs being dry?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

In the enquired situation, it will be sufficient to wipe over the socks. It is not necessary to repeat the wudhu. The above is obviously in the situation where the person did not do anything in the interim that would break the wudhu.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
