Free donut

Fatwaa ID: 546

Question:
Assalamu alaikum,

Most of the time I go to Dunkin donuts, they give me extra donuts that I don’t pay for. Is it halal for me to eat?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

To the best of our knowledge, the employees have the discretion to give customers extra, especially knowing that all the remaining donuts at the end of the day will be discarded in the trash. Even if they do not, you are not responsible. You may eat the extra donuts you are given.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
