Question:
Assalamualaikum can a hanafi do freshwater prawn farming /or invest in freshwater prawn farming?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

Prawns and shrimps are pure animals. They are suitable for consumption according to the mainstream position. It is thus permissible for a Hanafi to do freshwater prawn farming. Likewise, it is permissible for him to invest in such a business.
