Question:
Assalamualaykum,

For performing umrah, I know ghusl is sunnah and not required, however, is it okay to do ghusl 2 or even 3 days before entering the state of ihram, or must it be the morning of for the sunnah of it to “count”?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

It is from the sunnah of ihraam to perform ghusl prior to donning the ihraam. If it it performed 2-3 days before one puts on the ihraam, then that will not fulfill the sunnah. In such a case, one may perform wudhu instead.
