السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Hope mufti saab is well.
I wanted to find out if a person has a shop that has closed down can the person give out the stock in the shop as his zaakat (the stock is clothing).
Asking for a friend.
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
May Allaah Ta’aala place barakah in the person’s wealth. Zakaah may be given in the form of cash and/or kind. Clothing may be given as zakaah. When doing so, the fair market value of the clothing will be considered. When giving zakaah in kind, one should keep in mind the best interests of the recipient.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
