Salam can you give Zakat to person who is not eligible to receive Zakat to pay his debt
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
If a person is not eligible to receive zakaah, then obviously zakaah cannot be given to him. If a person has debts that encompass his wealth or the remaining amount of his wealth, zakaatable and non-essential, after deducting the debt is less than the nisaab threshold, then he will be eligible to receive zakaah. In this case, he may be given zakaah funds. If his debts are not as stated above, then he is not eligible to receive zakaah.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
