Haaidhah reciting Bukhaari Shareef

Fatwaa ID: 919

Question:
Do any scholars disallow the recitation of Bukhari Shareef during a woman’s menstrual cycle?

I always thought it’s a good thing to read hadith during Ramadan when one can’t read quran but a few people have said that “you won’t be in a complete state of tuhr.”

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

It is permissible for a menstruating woman to read the Ahaadith of Nabi ﷺ, such as from Saheeh Al-Bukhaari. The prohibition is in regards to Qur’anic verses. Hence, if any Qur’anic verse comes in the book, she will not be permitted to read that portion verbally.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
