Assalamu aalykum ww
If a person gets a hadd of zina in this world, will their punishment be decreased in the aakirah
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
The jurists have differed in regards to whether a hadd punishment administered by the Islamic state effects tawbah in itself or not. According to the mainstream position, it automatically effects tawbah, i.e., the offender is forgiven once the hadd takes place. The Hanafi legal school however opines that an offender will have to make tawbah as well for his sin to be forgiven. The hadd punishment alone will not result in his sins being forgiven. To answer your question, the hadd punishment will mean no punishment in the Hereafter according to the former position, and no effect on the punishment in the Hereafter unless tawbah is found according to the latter.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
