Hajj of a baaligh with parent’s money

Fatwaa ID: 1033

I wanted to know:

A) if a child (who is already passed puberty) goes for Hajj with the money from their parents, is that counted as their Hajj?

Or is Hajj only valid when one pays for themselves?

B) who does the duty of Hajj fall upon for females? Is it the father’s duty or husband’s?

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

  1. If a baaligh child performs Hajj with his parent’s money, they will be valid and it will suffice as his Hajj of Islam. It is not necessary that one pays for his own Hajj for it to be valid.
  2. The obligation of Hajj of a woman is based on her own financial and physical condition and the presence or availability of her husband or mahram. She is also responsible for paying for the husband or mahram’s Hajj trip. If he wishes to pay for himself and/or for her, then that is permissible.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
