Holding each other accountable

Fatwaa ID: 328

Question:
السلام عليكم
My friend and I are using this app to track our prayers and whenever one of us misses a prayer, we hold each other accountable. My question is, is this permissible and would this be considered as exposing one’s sins?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

The above is permissible and commendable. We strive to assist one another in getting closer to Allaah Ta’aala and doing good. This would not come under exposing one’s sins. There is a genuine purpose and benefit in this.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
