Question:
Assalam Alaykum

I hope you are doing well.

My brother is having a holy communion on Saturday I’m not sure if I’m allowed to attend? Am I able to attend or not?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

Holy communion is a religious commemoration of “Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples” and is regarded to be a central act of worship to remember his sacrifices. Bread and wine are brought to the table and served to the congregants.

A Muslim is sensitive to his beliefs, values and morals. Accordingly, it is not permissible for a Muslim to attend the above gathering. It is a form of worship.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
