I take qassam on my imaan

Fatwaa ID: 2206

As salaamu alaikum
What is the status of one who swears an oath saying..
‘I take Qassam on my Imaan’

The Qassam one took happens to be false.
ie. He took the Qassam which was a lie.

Is he still in nikah?

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

Being a Muslim is not a matter of play. Imaan is the greatest blessing a person can be given. It is extremely foolish for a person to take such an oath. He should be remorseful of this and make sincere tawbah and istighfaar. Nevertheless, to be safe, he should repeat his shahaadah and renew his nikaah.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
