Ibaadah during pregnancy

Fatwaa ID: 474

Question:
Aslmualykum mufti saheb. Hope this message finds you in good health insha’Allah. I’m just concerned. My question is, I’m expecting a child but I have very bad morning sickness and extremely tired all the time. I am the bread winner with 4 kids as well. My question is will Allah punish me if I’m neglectful of my ibaadat I use to do before like reciting Qur’an and athkaar. Also sometimes my morning sickness is so bad I skip Esha on time and make qadha . Is there any remedy to this. jazakAllah

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

May Allaah Ta’aala make everything easy for him. May He grant you a blessed and righteous child.

Your pregnancy and the difficulty you go through because of that is a source of reward for you. Your pregnancy is a form of ‘ibaadah. Do not regard it to be a deterrent. Likewise, any nafl ‘ibaadah that you were punctual on previously, it will be written for you now as though you are doing them. This is from the mercy of Allaah Ta’aala. Try to ensure that you perform your fardh salaahs on time even if you keep them brief. Engage in those ‘ibaadaat which do not require you too much movement or energy, such as keeping your tongue moist with dhikr and salawaat, listening to recitations of the Qur’aan, etc.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
