Imaam made salaam before I could finish Tashahhud

Fatwaa ID: 1016

Question:
Assalamu alaikum
When attending tarawee in congregation is it compulsory to say the tashaahud and durood sometimes the imaam finishes the salah before you can finish saying the tashaahud and durood so when that happens can we stop where we are and follow the imam with the salaam
Also in fard salah

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

If the imaam makes salaam before the muqtadee can complete the tashahhud, then the muqtadee should complete the tashahhud and then make the salaam. He does not have to read the durood. This is applicable to all congregational prayers.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
