Indecent content on social media

Fatwaa ID: 988

If you come across something indecent while fasting on social media app the fast will still be valid?

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

At the outset, you should use your social media wisely. You should ensure that the content you follow or see are halaal-friendly. Furthermore, you should not spend time unnecessarily on social media, especially in the month of Ramadhan. A person will be accountable for every moment of his. Nevertheless, the fast will remain valid in the enquired situation. However, the possibility of one’s spirituality decreasing cannot be ruled. Istighfaar should be made.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
